UCAS and higher education support
UCAS and Higher Education Support
If you aspire to go to university, we have a comprehensive Life After College Programme to support you in achieving this goal. During Year 12, you will learn about the wide range of institutions and courses available when you finish College. This will include hearing from guest speakers from different universities, visiting the UCAS convention to meet representatives from universities across the UK and visits to universities to learn about university life and study.
You will receive detailed guidance on how to research different courses and how to use the UCAS application portal, as well as step-by-step guidance on writing an effective personal statement.
For those students considering applying to Oxford and Cambridge universities or courses in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry as well as Conservatoire courses, you will attend our ‘early entry’ support programme where you will understand how to best prepare for an application to these highly competitive courses and institutions including guidance on super-curricular study and interview practice.
All students will be offered a one-to-one careers guidance meeting with our careers adviser.
During the autumn term of Year 13, our full time Student Services Manager, Mrs Katie Vickers, is available to support you through the application process alongside your form tutor.
For parents, we run a parent information evening in July of Year 13, providing full details of how parents and carers can support students in applying to university.
